- + Is my website safe and secure? And will my IT department be satisfied?
-
We constantly check our web server for updates and technology changes that would ensure our server is safe and secure from hackers, spam, viruses, etc. I am confident your IT department will be satisfied with our practices. Read Security and Technology for more information.
- + Is it complicated to put my planned giving website on the Internet?
-
Simply put... Not at all. Why? To create a domain for on our server is very easy, we create a DNS record of your domain, 2 minutes to setup on our end (can take approx 24 hours for it to register with other servers on the internet for DNS registration). We have created a back-end manager to setup the variable information on our pages and transfer the files. (this takes about 10 minutes to accomplish). Once the transfer is complete Sarah and Efosa do their magic to conform the site to your needs. All in all, the process is very simple, quick.
The actual site usually takes 2 weeks to launch depending on changes to content, graphical layouts and design, and overall acceptance on your end.
- + Can we acquire a special domain name I’ve always liked?
-
If available, yes. We will gladly register it for you for a nominal fee. Our standard practice, however, is to set up a special link from your institution to one of our sub-domains. We find such links to be easier to remember for your prospects.
Example: www.YourName.org/giving
- + How is your Web server set up?
-
We run a Red Hat server that utilizes Apache web services, version 4.3.9 of PHP, and 4.1.12 of MySql. Our hardware is upgraded accordingly with an AMD Opteron™ 64 processor, 1 GIG RAM, upgradeable to 4 GIG, and a SCSI 150 GB Raid system. We may consider upgrading our version’s of PHP and MySQL, but it is important that ’’we beat it up first’’ to make sure it will work for us. Our system is behind a 100% Cisco Infrastructure that ensures security as well as reliability. Per domain we have a dedicated IP-Address for enhanced Search Engine Optimization and reliability.

- + How do I know my "request more information" form is working?
-
We test every aspect of your site immensely before we launch it. We test with our email address and yours to ensure it is properly working. You will receive a priliminary email that lets you know when we have tested the submission form. Did I mention we test your web site immensely? If you have not received an email in a while and concerned that there may be an error, let us know. You can also look at your report (that get’s setup for you) that will show you if the page that submits the email has been active or not.
- + Why does my website look a little different in Netscape (or Firefox or Opera) than it does in Internet Explorer?
-
Different browsers render sites differently (even a Mac and a PC will do this). If your site is designed by a professional, your website will be functional in all browsers and on both Macs and PCs. The layout of your site may look slightly different, but all the information will be visible. We test our sites in the major browsers before going live to make sure everything works in different browsers.
